About Newcastle Airport
Newcastle airport mainly serves the areas of Northumberland, Tyneside and Wearside, and as the 3rd largest airport in the North of England (after Liverpool and Manchester) it is no surprise that Newcastle airport hopes to expand its annual passenger capacity to 10 million (around double its current capacity) by 2016 and a massive 15 million by 2030. Newcastle plays host to several popular international airlines such as British Airways and Thomas Cook, ferrying travellers and holiday-hungry jetsetters around the globe.
Getting to Newcastle Airport
From the North, the A1 is the main road leading to the A696 dual carriageway which leads to Newcastle airport. Coming from Edinburgh, the A68/A696 supplies a direct route to the airport.
From the south, head north on the A1 - the road bypasses Newcastle city centre and eventually connects with the A696 leading directly to the airport.
