Leeds Bradford Airport has announced the launch of seven new routes for 2014.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will launch its first route between Leeds Bradford and Copenhagen, while Jet2.com and Eastern Airways will both add new destinations to compliment their existing schedules.

Eastern Airways new service between Leeds Bradford and Southampton Airport began on Monday of this week and it is hoped that the three times daily Monday to Friday and Sunday afternoon service will provide flexibility for both leisure and business travellers.

SAS will begin a twice weekly service to Copenhagen from March 31, which will offer a direct link to Denmark’s capital as well as onward connectivity across the rest of Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Jet2.com, which has its headquarters at Leeds Bradford Airport, will be introducing five new destinations beginning in spring.

From April 3, Jet2.com will begin a twice weekly service to the Hungarian capital, Budapest and the day after (April 4) they will begin flights to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.

Flights to Kos, Greece, will begin on May 6 and on May 14 the airline will commence flights to Verona in Italy.

From June 17, Jet2.com will begin flights to Reus on the Costa Daurada, Spain

Leeds Bradford Airport have been discussing potential opportunities with new airlines following the £11m upgrade of the main terminal building which was officially opened in December 2012.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s Aviation Development & Marketing Director, said: “I am delighted to introduce new airline SAS this year alongside the growth of our existing airlines Jet2.com and Eastern Airways.

“We are anticipating another exciting year for Leeds Bradford Airport, building on our established route network to offer more choice for our business and leisure passengers than ever before. We are particularly excited to offer two brand new destinations; Copenhagen operated by SAS and Verona with Jet2.com, we hope Yorkshire travellers will take advantage of this increased destination choice this summer by flying locally from LBA.”
