A hungry pilot decided to treat 160 passengers to pizza after his aircraft was diverted due to bad weather.

Captain Gerhard Bradner felt so sorry for his passengers that he telephoned Dominos, ordered 50 pizzas and paid for them out of his own personal account.

According to Colorado TV news network KDVR, what should have been a routine three-hour flight from Washington DC to Denver, turned into seven hour haul because of severe weather conditions.

After waiting for an hour on the ground, Captain Bradner decided enough was enough and called for the pizza delivery.

He told KDVR he was hungry and the passengers were hungry, so he stepped in to help.

Passengers on-board Frontier Airlines Flight 719 said the Captain announced: “Ladies and gentleman, Frontier Airlines is known for being one of the cheapest airlines in the US, but your captain is not cheap. I just ordered pizza for the entire plane.”

After the cabin crew had handed out the pizzas, Captain Bradner finally took off and arrived at Denver International Airport nearly five hours late.
